Hugh Masekela sings Mandela

HUGH MASEKELA
special guest: Nomfusi
South Africa celebrates 20 years of freedom and democracy

Nelson Mandela’s lifelong fight for freedom possessed a secret weapon: music. One of the masters of this music was the jazz legend Hugh Masekela. His music stands for the values of a revolution, joy and happiness, and the overcoming of oppression. He was forced into exile with Miriam Makeba, but their music spread a political message worldwide and became the soundtrack of a nation. Historic songs such as “To Those We Love” and “Free Nelson Mandela” became freedom anthems and a major catalyst for South Africa’s journey to democracy. Hugh Masekela, as the narrator of a rich political and musical history, will give a concert to celebrate the 20th anniversary of freedom and democracy in South Africa. He has invited a special guest: the young princess of soul, Nomfusi Gotyana, who stars as Miriam Makeba in the new Mandela epic, Long Walk to Freedom, and is a fine ambassador for modern South Africa.
A concert in European exclusivity.
