GENERAL INFO: PLANTS/SEEDS - MEAT – CHEESE – HONEY -ENDANGERED WILD LIFE - Seeds and seedlings
- Meat Importation of meat is prohibited unless in possession of a health permit issued by the Directorate Veterinary Service, Private Bag X138, Pretoria, 0001. It should also be noted that the meat would be detained for Port Health Inspection - Cheese The importation of cheese is allowed under cover of a permit obtainable from the Department of Agriculture prior to importation. (Tel + 27 12 319 7362 and fax + 27 12 329 8292). - Honey Honey or any products or preparation containing honey may not be imported at all. - Endangered Wild Life South Africa is in a signatory to the convention on international trade in endangered wild fauna and flora species (CITES). According to the convention, strict control is exercised over the importation/exportation and also re-exportation of all endangered wild life, live or dead, including all parts thereof as well as articles manufactured there from.
