GENERAL INFO: SENDING GIFT PARCELS - Gift parcels Bona fide unsolicited free gifts of not more than two parcels per calendar year, and of which the value per parcel does not exceed R400, 00 may be sent by a natural person abroad to a natural person in the Republic. Such parcels may not include food or food products, no alcoholic beverages and no tobacco products. Gift parcels may be imported duty-free into South Africa, however, the following guidelines should be borne in mind : - Duty-free gifts are only possible between private persons - The outside of the package must be marked with : the words " Unsolicited Free Gift" the value the description of the contents No import permit is required if the free on board value does not exceed R400, 00. A Nominal fee is levied by the South African Post Office. |
